With today's gas prices, drivers are looking for any way possible to save even just a few cents on gas. While gas prices are on the rise, there are ways for you to save at the pump. Of course, keeping up with routine maintenance and monitoring your driving habits can help, but did you know you can use your smartphone to save on gas? That's right, you can download free apps to save money on fuel! Continue reading below to learn how!

GasBuddy

The first and most commonly-used app is GasBuddy. After downloading the app, simply put in your zip code to find gas stations in your area and find the cheapest price. In addition to any data that the gas stations provide GasBuddy, the app also relies on user data to display the prices. Therefore, although there is a slight chance for a discrepancy, the prices displayed are generally spot-on. GasBuddy also offers a GasBuddy credit card that links directly to your bank account. By doing this, you can save up to 25 cents per gallon. For die-hard GasBuddy fans, the premium service is guaranteed to save users 20 cents per gallon for up to 50 gallons each month. GasBuddy Premium is a monthly subscription of $9.99/month.

Upside

Formerly known as GetUpside, Upside advertises that it can save users up to 25 cents/gallon on gas. This will allow you to scroll through nearby gas prices and see the different savings offers. Unlike using the GasBuddy card and using your own bank information, you simply snap a photo of your gas receipt in the Upside app and the app will calculate your savings. Users can also use the check-in feature to pay with a saved debit or credit card rather than taking a photo of the receipt. After a certain amount of cashback has been reached, users can cash out by PayPal, digital gift card, or refund back to the saved card. Another perk of Upside is that it can also be used at participating restaurants and grocery stores.

Gas Guru

Gas Guru is more simple and shows users the current gas prices in their area. Users can set filters based on price, fuel grade, and distance from their current location. Gas Guru is owned by Yellow Pages, which gives users the confidence that the prices are correct as they come straight from the Oil Price Information Service. This super easy-to-use app can also show users places where they can get a bite to eat or pick up groceries in close proximity to the gas station, saving fuel by minimizing travel distances.
