Jeep has revealed the final production Wrangler EcoDiesel model, the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon FarOut edition. The EcoDiesel engine was made available for the Wrangler and Gladiator in the 2020 model year. While it will still be available for the Gladiator, the EcoDiesel engine is being phased out for the Wrangler as it is headed toward an electric future. However, Jeep wanted to make a grand exit for the Wrangler EcoDiesel. And so became the Wrangler Rubicon FarOut edition. Please continue reading below to discover the new special edition Wrangler!

What is the Jeep EcoDiesel Engine?

The Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel was the most capable Wrangler to date. A 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel-powered engine gave the Wrangler 442 lb-ft of torque alongside 260 horsepower. More torque helps off-roaders crawl over rugged terrain, as it gets the wheels to move without having to build up as many RPMs. This helps overcome trail obstacles easier. While the EcoDiesel Wrangler is being discontinued after 2023, the Wrangler lineup will still feature the 3.6L V6 as standard equipment, with the 2.0L turbocharged I-4 standard for the Sahara and High Altitude trims. Additionally, the 4xe plug-in hybrid system is optional for the Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude trims. Lastly, the Wrangler Rubicon 392 comes exclusively with a 6.4L HEMI V8.

Off-Road Capability of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon FarOut Edition

The FarOut edition takes the already highly-capable Wrangler Rubicon to a new level with its EcoDiesel power. However, it also features an array of equipment to aid in its off-road chops. Like the Rubicon, the FarOut edition uses the Rock-Trac 4x4 transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. This helps distribute more torque to the wheels at low speeds, making it easier to crawl over logs, rocks, and other trail obstacles. Additionally, the FarOut edition comes with locking front and rear differentials to keep up the momentum by moving all four wheels at the same speed at the push of a button. Using the sway bar disconnect button, you can unlink the front sway bar, increasing the wheel articulation. Wheel articulation is how far up and down the wheels are allowed to go. By disconnecting the sway bar, you will allow the front wheels to rise and drop further, keeping them in contact with the surface beneath you, no matter how rugged it gets. The FarOut edition also features aggressive 33-inch all-terrain tires.

Interior and Exterior Design of the Wrangler Rubicon FarOut Edition

The Wrangler Rubicon FarOut edition is easily picked out from the rest of the lineup, even upon a quick glance. Most notably, it boasts about its EcoDiesel power with an antiglare hood decal that reads '3.0 Diesel' on it. Additionally, the new edition features exclusive '3.0 D' badging. It also wears unique 17-inch alloy wheels that differ from the regular Rubicon's. Other exterior features include LED lighting, a Satin Black grille, body-color fender flares, red tow hooks, the Trailer Tow Group, and Heavy Duty Electrical Group. Inside the Wrangler Rubicon Farout, you'll enjoy heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a remote starter as part of the Cold Weather Group. The interior also features black leather seating with red accent stitching and all-weather floor mats.
