The Dodge Durango has undergone a lot of new changes for 2018. A brand new SRT model is now available and it comes with a best-in-class towing capability at a maximum of 8,700 pounds. All models now come standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, driver-oriented electronic shifter, the latest Uconnect system, new sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, and a rear backup camera. New features are also available on certain models. For example, the SXT now comes standard with rear park assist and a leather sport steering wheel, while the GT model now comes with a power liftgate and Capri and suede leather bucket seats.

What safety features come standard?

Standard features on the 2018 Dodge Durango include airbags for the driver, passenger, driver knee, front hear curtain, front side, and the rear head curtain. Other standard features include child door locks, an engine immobilizer, traction control, a rearview camera, and rear parking sensors. A Technology Group package is also available for the Citadel and R/T. This package comes with blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and a forward collision warning system with automatic braking. The G/T also has the option of blind-spot monitoring through the Safety/Security Convenience Group package.

What are the different trims available?

The base model for the 2108 Durango is the SXT. This model comes with heated mirrors, keyless ignition and entry, 18-inch alloy wheels, a load-leveling rear suspension, three-zone climate control, power-folding headrests, a 7-inch touchscreen, and cloth upholstery. The GT adds a power liftgate, remote start, 20-inch wheels, heated front and second-row seating, a 115-volt power outlet, leather and suede upholstery, and a driver-position memory setting. The Citadel adds automatic beams, automatic wipers, xenon headlights, a sunroof, a cargo cover, a Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen, additional leather trim, a navigation system, and a nine-speaker audio system. The R/T has a performance hood design, an upgraded steering system, LED foglights, a sport-tuned suspension, and the optional roof rails and sunroof. Additional packages are available to further add features as wanted/needed. The SRT trim is all-new and comes with adaptive suspension, performance-tuned steering, and electronically controlled limited-slip differential.

Which engines are available in the 2018 Durango?

The Dodge Durango comes with three engine options. The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with 293 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This engine has the option of single or dual exhaust and rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The SXT model comes standard with all-wheel drive. The next engine option is a 5.7-liter V8 with up to 7,400 pounds of towing capacity, 360 horsepower, and 390 lb-ft of torque. The last engine just so happens to be the most powerful choice with 475 horsepower. The 6.4-liter V8 engine also offers 470 lb-ft of torque on top of the 475 horsepower. Every engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with the V8 engines being able to deactivate half of their cylinders to save on fuel.
